Find, request, and view reports using modern business intelligence tools

EDBI helps Rice teams apply modern business intelligence tools to their reporting needs when departments may not have the time, capacity, or specialized reporting support to build and maintain dashboards on their own. Our team manages reports in both Tableau and Power BI, helps departments request access to existing reports, and partners with teams to build new reports around specific operational questions.

Choose EDBI-curated data from the Enterprise Data Platform

Start with an existing curated dataset, or bring in your own data when the work requires it. EDBI will help your team define the KPIs, filters, and reporting story so the report becomes a maintained resource instead of another process you rebuild every week, month, or year.

Your role as a report viewer

You do not need to build a dashboard to benefit from one. As a viewer, the practical skills are knowing where to find the report, how to filter it, how to check what data you are looking at, and how to explain what you found.

When reports are available to your team, answers are easier to find, meetings can move faster, and follow-up questions can be explored without starting over.

Find

Know whether your report lives in Power BI, Tableau, a shared app, or an EDBI dashboard location.

Filter

Apply filters, slicers, tabs, and visual selections so you are looking at the right slice of information.

Check

Look for refresh dates, selected filters, metric definitions, and audience limits before presenting findings.

Share

Use report links, exports, and screenshots in ways that match the report audience and data use expectations.

What do you need to do next?

Access an existing report

There are existing report communities across campus. If you know the report, dashboard, site, or business area, request access and include the reason your team needs it.

Request Report Access

Learn how to view reports

Start with viewer training if you need to open reports, use filters, interpret dashboard pages, export carefully, or present what you found.

Power BI Viewer Training

Create a curated report

If your team needs a shared view around a specific business question, EDBI can help define the audience, data source, measures, filters, and delivery path.
